I've always been someone who feels things deeply.
It wasn't always easy, but that's why my paintings exist in their current form.
My intuition is my compass. In life and on the canvas. I don’t paint from a plan, but from a moment. A feeling that lingers. The shadow of a branch on the floor after the rain. The fog in my head during my burnout and the quiet clarity that slowly returned afterward.
The process begins even before the first brushstroke. I build the frame myself, stretch the raw cotton canvas over it, and prepare each canvas by hand. What you ultimately see has passed through my hands from start to finish. That’s not just a detail—it’s the essence of what I do.
Each painting comes into being during a "slow art" session, a moment of calm that I consciously seek out.
No schedule, no expectations. I slow down, breathe, and let whatever is there flow freely.
What wants to come out, comes out. What isn’t ready yet stays put for a while.
I work on raw cotton canvas, using my hands. The layers of paint build up just as thoughts do—sometimes light and transparent, sometimes heavier than expected. I leave the small imperfections as they are. They aren’t mistakes, but proof that someone was there. And in this way, I let go of my perfectionism a little more each time.
All paintings are handmade in my studio in Diest, from the frame to the final coat of paint.
